STAR is commissioning a study that will assess the threat of terrorism and other acts of malice at the Indian Point, Millstone and Oyster Creek sites and provide options for reducing that threat. The project will involve policy analysis to assess the need for changes in statutes or NRC regulations, or the needs for new financing mechanisms to protect public safety. For each selected plant, the project will investigate the plant's vulnerability to a range of acts, and would estimate the offsite consequences of those acts. The project will identify and assess a range of short- and long-term options for reducing the threat. |
